I'm still alive...

So I realized that it's been months since I posted anything....my bad!

So here's a little ditty about my weekend:

Saturday morning, Eddy and I woke up early and headed to the Sweet Maple Cafe in the city. It's a small cafe on Taylor Street. It only has 13 tables so we had to wait outside for 40 minutes. It was a beautiful day, so the wait didn't seem that long. The food was excellent and affordable. Here is a link to their review: http://metromix.chicagotribune.com/search/41536,0,491148.venue

Next, we hit the Brookfield Zoo. It's been years since either of us have visited the zoo. It was such a beautiful day! The new baby polar bear was outside for the first time on Friday, so we were hoping to catch a glimpse...and sure enough we did! Below are a few of my favorite zoo pics. Enjoy!

Go Bears!

Two boys are playing hockey on a pond in a Chicago Park when a crazed
Rottweiler suddenly attacks one of the boys. Thinking quickly, the
other boy takes his hockey stick, shoves it under the dog's collar, twists it
and breaks the dog's neck, saving his friend.

A reporter is standing by, sees the incident, and rushes over to
interview the boy. "Young Cub Fan Saves Friend From Vicious Animal," he starts writing in his notebook. "But I'm not a Cubs fan," the little boy replies. "Sorry, but since we're in Chicago, I just assumed you were," says the reporter and starts writing again.

"Sox Fan Rescues Friend >From Horrific Attack," he writes in his
notebook. "But I'm not a Sox fan either," the little boy replies. "Sorry, but
since we're in Chicago, I just assumed you were," says the reporter and
starts writing again. "Bears Fan Rescues Friend From Horrific
Attack," he writes in his notebook. "I'm not a Bears fan either," says the
boy. "Oh... I assumed everyone in Chicago was either for the Cubs, Sox or
Bears. What team do you root for?" the reporter asked. "I'm a Colts Fan," the boy replies. The reporter starts a new sheet in his notebook and writes:

"Little Bastard From Indiana Kills Beloved Family Pet"

I should be offended....but I'm not

As an IT expert myself, I should be offended,
but I think this is pretty much how I am most of the time!

Best Superbowl EVER!

The Bears are heading to the Superbowl. What a game it was. The Bears came in as underdogs and beat up on the Saints, winning by 25. It's been so long since the Bears have given us a treat like this. Now...where is my updated Superbowl Shuffle?

On the other side of the league, my boy Peyton Manning finally won his way to the Superbowl. ...and what a game that was too! Perhaps a top ten game of all time (for me anyway). I have waited for years for Peyton to take out Tom Brady and the Patriots. ...and to come back in the 4th quarter. Glorious!

My loyalty will stay with the Bears on February 4th, but I won't be too disappointed with an Indy victory!

Happy Birthday to ME....almost

Tomorrow is my birthday. Yep--the BIG 29 is here!
With enough begging, I was able to open up my present early. Eddy, mom, Valerie, and gramma went in on a new digital camera, memory card, etc. for me.

As expected, here are some new pics of the dog....

It All Comes Down To Sunday

My bet with Sean comes down to the last game of the regular season. With the Bears at 13-2 and the Pack at 7-8, Sean needs the Bears to win to get my $5 and I need the Pack to win to get his $5.

Our original bet: Sean said the Bears would win twice as many games as the Packers.

I figured the entire division would suck, including the Bears. I was right, except for the Bears--they've been very lucky. Granted, I've had a lot of fun watching (and rooting) for the Bears, for pride, I would like to win the bet. :-)

Best of luck to you Sean!
