What is the matter with Luke Danes?

So--what is the matter with Luke Danes? He's been in love with Lorelei for 5 seasons, finally gets the girl, and then, like a typical man, MESSES THE WHOLE THING UP!

I understand that he needs to be with his newly found daughter. I'm all for it...but keeping his new life with his daughter completely separate from his life with Lorelei. STUPID!
